Zantetsuken Quest


Starting NPC: Odin, at the Chocobo Circuit.

Spawn in to the Chocobo Circuit using !home, head south and exit the main room upon zoning in, and turn right (toward the area with Channon) until you see Odin on his mighty steed Sleipnir.

Notes: Use of plugins that edit framerates, including FPS60 and Enternity, can cause blackscreens on things like airships and the Bibiki Bay boat system.  Please ensure you have these plugins disabled before undertaking a Zantetsuken mission.


Speaking to Odin will start you on the Zantetsuken Quest. He will imbue you with a costume status effect which you must have for the remainder of the quest – the effect has a 10 hour timer.


Odin will also give you a clue when you get the effect. The clue will be intentionally vague, but is linked to a particular zone, in which you will have to play a sort of hot-and-cold game to find a location (no ??? or points to mark, just proximity).


Acceptable Means of Travel while under Costume Status Effect

  • Walking
  • Chocobo Rentals
  • !home, !racetrack commands, including
    • Using Nation Teleport NPCs within the Chocobo Circuit
    • Teleporting to the Chocobo Circuit from any Nation by clicking their door
  • Airships from or to Jeuno, Nations, or Kazham
  • Ship from Mhaura, Selbina, Aht Urhgan or Nashmau
  • Explorer Moogles

Upon entering the zone that is related to your clue, you will receive a system message indicating that you are in the correct zone.


As you move throughout the zone, you will eventually receive further system messages indicating you are getting closer to the proper point.


Once you reach it, the system message will inform you you are no longer on the Zantetsuken Quest and that you may pick up another from Odin at the Chocobo Circuit. There is no cooldown after completing one clue and being able to get another clue.

Post-quest zan point collection

After finishing the Zantetsuken Quest, players can still earn more Zan Points to earn more items!

Methods for obtaining additional Zan Points include:

  • Assisting players with Missions
    • some missions require the player to be alive at the end to get credit, and some require the player to stay past the end cutscene to receive credit.
  • Killing Notorious Monsters
    • Not all NMs qualify to earn Zan Points. If an NM doesn’t give Zan, it doesn’t give Zan. It’s not a bug.  Notable examples of this are the HQ Beast Kings, like Tzee Xicu the Manifest, while the Yagudo Avatar, an NQ Beast King, does provide Zan Points.

Zantetsuken Shop

After completing all the clues, speaking to Odin will open the Zantetsuken Shop, where players can purchase items normally obtained via Einherjar!

Trading 777 gil to Odin will open the Zantetsuken Materials shop, where players can purchase the base items for creation of Cursed items for the Hadean and Phantasmal Abjurations! Each item costs 1 gil once the shop is opened.
